PRINTUP INSTITUTE, Institute of the Université Paris Cité

PRINTUP INSTITUTE is a project led by a research team within the ITODYS laboratory of the Université Paris Cité, specialized in the formulation of specific inks and in printing processes. This team has developed over time recognized expertise in the field of printed electronics. The institute is focused on health applications.

The mission of PRINTUP INSTITUTE

PRINTUP INSTITUTE, an institute of the Université Paris Cité, aims to develop a PRINTED ELECTRONICS FOR HEALTH value chain, from biomolecular design to the supply of medical devices for health professionals. The PRINTUP institute structures, leads and develops this ecosystem with synergies combining the expectations of hospital practitioners in terms of medical devices, the technological and scientific expertise of partner laboratories and the know-how of industrialists throughout the production value chain.

A new manufacturing paradigm is now in place. The direct printing methods will reduce the number of manufacturing steps for increasingly complex and miniaturized electronic components.

Printed electronics brings different impacts:
Economic: Manufacturing costs are significantly reduced with the transformation of multi-step processes to a single step. Faster prototyping of new products accelerates their deployment on the market.
Environmental: Energy consumption and material waste are reduced with additive printing.
Strategic: Printing technologies facilitates national and European re-industrialization in the field of electronics.

PRINTUP INSTITUTE - Governance

The strategic committee defines the objectives and the strategy of the institute. It programs and verifies the deployment of actions.
The scientific committee reviews the state of the art of research, plans the platform’s equipment and writes the scientific communications.
The Directory Board implements the actions necessary to achieve the objectives set by the committees, organizes the institute’s events and offers various services (project management and follow-up, international partnerships and projects, professional training) that accelerate innovation.

PRINTUP INSTITUTE - Seed funding €2M

The seed fund of the institute was financed in a PIA program (Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir) Filière 2022 by BpiFrance, the Ile-de-France Region and the Université Paris Cité.
